Every new employee’s orientation is aligned with industrial training programs, such as OSHA Basic Plus, OSHA 10, and SafeLand. Ardent’s signature short service employee (SSE) program prepares new employees, identified via prominent hard hat sticker, with a minimum of six weeks’ mentoring to ensure they achieve proficiencies.
All employees are required to participate in daily safety briefing meetings, as well as job safety analyses. Employees are rewarded for completing safety audits and exercising their stop work authority.
Ardent internally audits its illness and injury prevention plan and has it externally audited by ISNetworld, PEC Safety, and Avetta. Project managers and estimators use this plan, and advice from the safety department, to develop comprehensive safety execution plans prior to mobilization. All involved employees review the safety execution plan, identify risks, and agree to the plan’s terms and conditions.
Every incident, regardless of severity, is reported immediately to onsite supervision, then to the safety director. A team of onsite and offsite personnel investigate recordable injuries, serious property damage incidents, and significant near-miss incidents. Following investigation, a formal safety alert is distributed detailing findings and necessary corrective actions.
Always aware that safety requires collaboration, Ardent also participates in customer-sponsored safety forums and frequently conducts job site walks with customers. By involving everyone in the safety mission, Ardent continues to exemplify a safety-first culture.
